Ist International Meeting of experiences and practices for an energy transition: towards the end of energy poverty
Energy poverty is one of the main consequences of current energy models and a major societal challenge. Energy policies affect the entire population, not just the lives of people and families who cannot afford to pay for basic services (water, gas, electricity) or a part of them. Based on the current extractivist system, these models perpetuate impunity, use energy as a private good, generate economic benefits for multinational enterprises, hinder social and environmental transition initiatives and impact daily on the lives of human beings and the environment.
At the initiative of different groups and organizations from Spain, on November 8th and 9th, experiences from different countries will be gathered in Barcelona, both from the south and from the global north, which question current energy policies and work to transform them. The meeting seeks to know and discuss various international proposals that are moving towards a democratic energy transition, as well as agreeing strategies and basic lines to eradicate energy poverty in the Spanish state.
Soon we will send you detailed information about the program. Meanwhile we invite you to reserve this date in your agendas and share this invitation to all those who may be interested in attending.
